That's exactly what happened to Canadian professional baseball pitcher Scott Richmond during a game in the Chinese Professional Baseball League in Taiwan.
Richmond was pitching for the EDA Rhinos against the Lamigo Monkeys when a line drive was struck flush back at him.
He not only managed to duck, but stuck his left arm in the air, catching the ball with his back turned.
As the rest of the field tried to process what had just happened, Richmond didn't think twice and flung the ball to first base to complete a brilliant double-play.
The 36-year-old appeared to take it all in his stride with a simple fist bump with his teammate, as the camera focused on stunned faces on the bench.
We haven't yet got a translation on the commentary but the excited tone would seem to indicate the esteem in which the highlight - viewed 5.9 million times on Facebook - is held.
Could it be the best catch ever? We would love someone to prove us wrong.
