The Raiders will hit the road for the final two rounds of the NRL regular season to play at some of rugby league's favourite suburban grounds in Brookvale Oval and Leichhardt Oval.

It means that the Green Machine might not play another game in Canberra this year, with the NRL standing firm on its decision to avoid preliminary finals in the nation's capital.

The current rules state any teams based in Sydney, Newcastle, Wollongong and Canberra must "host" a preliminary final at Sydney's Allianz Stadium or ANZ Stadium.

But the prospect of five away games to finish the season isn't bothering Raiders skipper Jarrod Croker, who backed Austin in saying the side would play "anywhere" for a shot at the NRL title.

Austin is yet to play finals footy in his six-year career and said he welcomed the challenge of finishing the season on the road.

"It's just the way it's panned out," Austin said.

"We'll play a game of footy anywhere to be honest. We're just excited to be in that mix for the finals series."

The Raiders will head to Sydney's northern beaches two days out from their date with Manly on Saturday as they look to build on their eight-game winning streak.

"We really enjoy each other's company getting away," Austin said.

"[We'll] spend a bit of time by the beach in Manly and then out to Leichhardt. Two pretty traditional grounds in our game, and it should be enjoyable."

Wests are an outside chance to make the top eight, but with Canberra locked into the top four the former Tiger hasn't thought twice about his decision to move to the capital.

"I'm really enjoying my time here in Canberra," Austin said.

"We're really building something and it's important that we keep the momentum going leading into the semis."

There is nothing quite like a packed out suburban ground on a weekend, and Croker was excited by the prospect of rounding out the regular season with opposition fans breathing down his neck.

"They are [tough to win at], but they're also good games to be involved in," Croker said.

Manly's final home game of the season was to be Jamie Lyon's last game at Brookvale Oval, but with the former Test centre under an injury cloud his farewell may not come to fruition.

It won't make a difference for Croker, who expected the home fans to be "swinging from the rafters."

"Leichhardt Oval on a Sunday arvo is going to be no different the following week. It's a good environment for us to play in," Croker said.

A crowd of 18,825 turned out to see Croker orchestrate a stunning fightback against Parramatta on Sunday, but the Canberra captain said he hoped it was the last his side saw Canberra Stadium this year.

"If we're playing at home again that means we probably lost a game," Croker said.

"[The home support] has been great and we love playing at home, but hopefully we don't have to play here again."
