Police and other emergency service officers rushed to the Labrador house, just opposite a primary school, about 2pm Monday following reports of a shot being fired.
Paramedics attempted CPR after the 43-year-old man died at the scene after allegedly being shot in the chest.
A woman, 48, who was known to him, was taken into custody and later charged with one count of murder.
Police wouldn't go into the exact nature of the relationship.
A police spokesman said officers spoke to several witnesses, including one woman taken away from the Imperial Parade home on Monday afternoon.
