The 'Doggies coach on Tuesday afternoon would not reveal whether Jake Stringer would be reintroduced into the senior team for their last home-and-away match for the season, after he dropped the star forward to the VFL last week.

The Western Bulldogs have had more than their fair share of injuries this year, with captain Bob Murphy, Mitch Wallis, Jack Redpath, Kieran Collins and Josh Prudden all out for the season.

But veteran backman Dale Morris had recovered from his hamstring injury and would play against Fremantle in Perth.

Matthew Suckling, who had hurt his Archilles, may too return to the team, but that would be decided upon later in the week.

"We'd rather have him back full of beans than half a can of SPC," Bevereidge said.

Beveridge said Easton Wood, who hobbled off the ground in the team's match against Essendon, was not as badly hurt as first feared.

Scans showed Wood had a medial ligament injury in his ankle, but no damage to his bones.

"We're optimistic we might get him for the first final, that'd be fantastic," Beveridge said.

A survey of senior AFL coaches found all 18 did not like the end-of-season bye, a week off between the home-and-away season and finals introduced by the AFL to discourage top teams from resting players in the lead up to September.

"I've changed my tune," Beveridge said.

"I think when it was initially floated I liked the idea of continuity and survival of the fittest and last man standing."

"But there's no doubt that maybe that out of all the teams in the eight, it suits us a bit better, gives Jack McCrae and Libba (Tom Liberatore) a chance to be fit and healthy."

Former Bomber turned Bulldogs forward Stewart Crameri has not played this season as he serves a ban for doping.

Beveridge said he had asked Crameri to keep training through the year, so he would be ready to play if the Swiss Court of Appeal overturned the suspension imposed on him and the other past and present Essendon players involved in the club's 2012 supplements program.

But the coach said he still did not know when the court would make its decision and Crameri was unlikely to get back into the senior team until 2017.

"Asking him to keep going was under the hope that the appeal would be heard and hopefully upheld earlier than this," Beveridge said.

"For him to come back in now and have any sort of impact would be a stretch I would have thought, but it would be nice to get him back and maybe play a game or two at Footscray, at VFL level, that rounds out his year and he can be on the ame timeline as his teammates."

Beveridge said the Western Bulldogs hoped to stay at Domain long enough after the match to pay tribute to retiring Dockers great Matthew Pavlich, but they needed to leave quite quickly to catch a plane back to Melbourne.
