Brian and Bernadette Rodriquez informed Mount Isa City Council last Thursday they had acquired a position in Charters Towers.
Mount Isa City Council have since advised that tenders for management of Splashez Aquatic Centre will soon be open.
Council will inform the public as to the expected reopening date of Splashez Aquatic Centre.
Mr Rodriquez hoped council would find a new manager soon as the pool was scheduled to open two weeks ago.
“We have already had phone calls from schools wanting to book swimming carnivals and children back into swimming lesson,” he said.
On Saturday he Rodriquez family will start their new journey by relocating to Charters Towers to manage the local pool.
Mr Rodriquez said it was a new challenge and something very excited for them.
“It’s been well known that we have been negotiating with the new council for a while, so when a job became available we applied,” he said.
“It will be a similar set up to here. We will take all our equipment with us and programs including learn to swim, squad, seniors aqua aerobics, school swimming and club swimming.
“We will open the pool in Charters Towers on Thursday September 1.”
The Rodriquez family first came to Mount Isa six years ago to work on behalf of the lessee who managed the pool at the time. They then took over the lease at the end of 2010.
Since then the Rodriquez family have conducted learn to swim classes, swimming club, aqua aerobics and assisted schools with swimming carnivals.
“Our time here in Mount Isa has been great and we have had plenty of exciting things happen during that time,” Mr Rodriquez said.
“Contributing to the heating of the pool was probably the main one. Also whoever threw the crocodiles in the pool, I should thank because that was funny and made world wide news.
“Overall we would like to thank the community and council for their support over our six years in Mount Isa.”
