We need to hear the opinion of One Nation's leader on every topic being debated. What's her view on superannuation changes? Where does One Nation sit with the planned plebiscite on same sex marriage? Is too much public funding given in pursuit of Olympic medals?

Should women be allowed to fight on the front line? Do politicians receive too much money? Should the wood chop be included in the Commonwealth Games?

The specific questions don't really matter. It's her answers that do.

Last time the Pauline Hanson bandwagon hit Canberra - two decades ago - she escaped that sort of scrutiny. People didn't want to give her oxygen, and voters latched onto a political force that was treated on the outer, by those in power.

One Nation's primary vote in Queensland could be as high as 16 per cent. With those figures, she could determine who will be the next premier.

This Parliament is almost unworkable, with the likes of drink driver and illicit picture-sender Billy Gordon wielding ridiculous power as a cross bencher.

Adding Pauline Hanson's One Nation to that is simply dangerous. She's won the federal position she now boasts - more because of the distrust voters have with the major parties than support for her views. But she's now a publicly funded representative; a law maker, who will help set the tone of our future.

And that means she not only deserves to be heard on every issue where she can influence the outcome, but she must be heard.

Last time Pauline Hanson was in Canberra, the established media wisdom was that providing her oxygen would boost her support.

She flourished, as the media tried to ignore her. Voters backed her in a David and Goliath battle. She represented them, against the big parties and the dominant media.

This time, it needs to be different. Voters might not trust the media much more than the politicians. But if Pauline Hanson and her extremist views are allowed to be heard, and she's encouraged to join every debate, voters will be in a better position to dictate whether she really warrants such a big role in Queensland.
