Mount Isa Mayor Joyce McCulloch, Rob Katter’s representative Brad Thompson, Public Trustee CEO Peter Carne and government department representatives acknowledged the occasion in the Miles Street office.
The Public Trustee offices have endured world wars and financial depressions – all relevant to the free will services that it provides to the communities they service.
Its roots began with its first offices in Brisbane, Townsville and Rockhampton in 1916. Mr Carne said there was a need to provide wills for the young men signing up to fight in the first World War.
The Public Trustee expanded further west to Mount Isa when its economy as a mining city increased.
During the celebration, the Public Trustee regional manager Greg Breen was acknowledged for the 20 years he had worked in the Mount Isa office. He began working for the Public Trustee in 1974.
