“The only way I could fix it was to pick up the slack and the kids haven’t missed a beat,” he said. “I tried to keep everything as normal as possible for the kids.”
Another thing he did was grow a Mohawk as a way to distract Mrs Godwin. People ask him about the Mohawk and it was his opportunity to raise awareness about breast cancer.
Mr Godwin’s hair style has influenced one of the fashion prizes in the Pink Ta Tas Fun Run, organised by the Mount Isa and North West Queensland Breast Cancer Support Group. Entrants can choose either the five kilometre run or three kilometre walk at Lake Moondarra. The event is to be held on Sunday, September 25.
The support group’s president Trish Olsen said entrants can nominate a loved one’s name to be on their bibs to represent who they are running for. Registrations can be made by contacting the North West Breast Cancer Support Group on Facebook.
