“My grandfather passed away eight years ago of cancer which originally stemmed from prostate. It was five days from diagnosis until his passing,” Mrs Black said
“I will be running in his honour and it brings to surface the issue of men’s health and how important it is to be checked for cancer regularly.
“Run with Dad is not just an event for fathers, this event is for anyone affected by cancer or wants to help raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer.”
Run with Dad is a four-kilometre run/walk with all proceeds going to the Prostate Cancer foundation. There is a free bbq breakfast supplied after the run. It is $10 to register, while kids under five years are free. The walk is held at Rugby Union Fields on Alma St starting at 8am. You can register through the ‘Run with Dad Mount Isa’ Facebook page.
