You name it, they had it. Vanilla, strawberry, chocolate, red-velvet, oreo and choc-chip were all available for locals to purchase to raise the profile of animal cruelty.
Owner of Stephanie’s Cupcakes, Stephanie Bithell, hoped to raise a combined $3000 for the two organisations.
“We had 550 cupcakes for sale on Sunday and we completely sold out within three hours,” Ms Bithell said.
“I would like to thank the community for their support as we raised a total of $1970.
Ms Bithell also hosted two other stalls at the Christmas Night Markets and Isa Street Festival. Over all three events Ms Bithell raised an accumulated $2500.
“The support has been amazing. I have had a lot of people donate cupcakes and ingredients or even just donated money,” she said.
“I just wanted to organise this event to raise as much needed awareness and funds for animals who have suffered abuse.
“Each year Cupcake Day is a national event for individuals to donate eat delicious cupcakes in support of RSPCA. But more importantly, it’s an opportunity to raise much-needed funds for the many abandoned, injured, neglected and sick animals who come into the RSPCA’s care each and every year.
“I also wanted to support our local welfare organisation Paws, Hoofs and Claws. Therefore 40 per cent of the funds raised were donated to them.”
Local businesses and organisations also took on the opportunity to host stalls at the event. Paws, Hoofs and Claws had a puppy corner for individuals and families to see the animals who are still in need of a home. Children enjoyed nursing and cuddling the puppies along with a colouring in corner. Jess O’Connor from JO’C PT also hosted a stall with a healthier option, handing out healthy cupcake recipes for locals to try.
Ms Bithell encourages everyone to host their own morning tea at work or at a local club and donate to the RSPCA or Paws, Hoofs and Claws as “every cent counts”.
