The Mount Isa Amateur Netball Association held their senior grand finals at Wellington Park with Spinifex Strikers sealing a win over Matariki A in division one.

It was the final game on Saturday evening and it could have gone either way. Spinifex was off to an early lead, with goal shooter Latasha Venz and goal attack Ann-Maree Giles sealing an accumulated nine goals in the first quarter.
Matariki were not far behind with goal shooter Courtenay Tohovaka and goal attack Waireta Emery sealing seven goals.
The second quarter both teams had equal possession of the ball but Spinifex slipped in front again sealing another nine goals over Matariki’s seven. At half time the score result was Spinifex 18, Matariki 14.
Both teams came out firing in the third quarter, with neither team dominating the play. Spinifex and Matariki both sealed another seven goals each.
Heading into the final quarter the score stood Spinifex 25, Matariki 21. Matariki had more possession of the ball trying to take advantage of their shooting opportunities to seal the grand final victory. The final minutes of the game were a nail biter with Matariki sealing 10 goals, Spinifex just held them out sealing eight goals.
The final score was Spinifex Strikers 33, Matariki A 31.
