The Festival is still asking for suggestions from Star readers who should jump from the cake.
“We're loving reading about who Mount Isa wants jumping out of the cake on the night of the Festival,” the committee said.
“Likewise, we are wanting as many people as possible who will be having their 21st birthday this year to participate in the Grand Parade.”
A highlight of the Festival will be the first-time live performance of a massed Catholic school choir.
Music teacher Kate Hartley took time out of preparing St Joseph’s choir to tell the North West Star what was happening.
“I’ve got four choirs, two here at St Joseph’s, two over at St Kieran’s and Jade Marinelli over at Good Shepherd, she’s got her older choir coming in,” Ms Hartley said.
“So we’re combining forces into a big choir on stage together.”
The five choirs will all be on stage singing the national anthem, according to Ms Hartley.
“Then we’ll be singing Happy Birthday in four voiced languages and we are also signing it,” she said.
“So we’ve got English, Mandarin, Portuguese, German and the fifth one is Auslan.”
Ms Hartley is the first time such a combined Catholic choir will appear on stage together.
“I had 50 here for rehearsal last Thursday and that was only three-quarters of them,” she said. “We’ve also got Goodstart Early Learning Centre, Isa Highlanders, the Dance Studio dancers, we’ve got a Cook Island dance group, we’ve got the Karate Kids, there will also be Irish dancers, Filipino dancers and line dancers.”
The Multicultural Festival finishes off with the great sounds of Off the Cuff.
“They’re a six-piece band and they’ll be playing for the rest of the night.” Ms Hartley said.
The fun kicks off at the Good Shepherd parish grounds at 6pm.
The choirs will probably be going on stage around 7.10pm.
