Australian actor Guy Pearce and his partner, Game of Thrones star Carice van Houten, have become parents.

The couple confirmed they have a new son, who they have named Monte Pearce. Pearce, 48, and van Houten, 39, have been in a relationship since last year. Monte is their first child together.
"A cute little package arrived and told us his name's Monte Pearce," Pearce posted on a social media account. "We think we're gonna keep him. Placenta smoothie anyone?"
Pearce, whose US credits include Iron Man, Prometheus and The King's Speech, found early fame in Australia as one of the stars of the TV series Neighbours.
Van Houten is best known for playing the witch Melisandre on the HBO mega-hit Game of Thrones.
A spokesperson for van Houten, who is from the Netherlands, confirmed the baby was born last week in Amsterdam.
"She had the baby last week and she is doing very well," the spokesperson said.
