Child safety debate deserves better than mudslinging

Queensland's Child Protection Week officially starts on Sunday, September 4. The most significant message that will be promoted during this week is that 'child protection is everyone's business'. With the lives and well-being of our children often at stake, it can well be said that child protection is also a very serious business. It is a 'business' that demands the highest level of honesty, diligence and care. Accordingly, the Queensland public has every right to hold governments, non-government organisations and all who care for and work with children and their families accountable for their decisions, the quality of the services they provide, their dedication to the roles they each perform and their display of unwavering levels of professional integrity.
