The accident in a northbound lane shortly after 10.30am just before the Kallangur turn-off and one patient was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

A spokesperson from the Australian Traffic Network said the crash caused "mayhem" on the roads, with delays back to Bracken Ridge northbound on the Bruce Highway, while traffic stretched back to Burpengary heading south.

The Gateway Motorway was also heavily affected with delays back to Deagon and heavy congestion through Strathpine.

One driver caught in the traffic said traffic had not gone faster than 60 kilometres per hour from Nudgee to Murrumba Downs.
