And while the hard-nosed midfielder isn't as well versed in finals success as premiership-winning recruits Heath Shaw, Shane Mumford and Steve Johnson, he has his own well to draw from having kicked four goals as a 16-year-old in Swan Districts' 2010 WAFL grand final win.

Selectors couldn't find a place for Coniglio in last week's All Australian side, which only included two Giants in Shaw and Toby Greene.

That was despite Coniglio taking his game to a new level this season as a run-with midfielder leading the club for total disposals, and making the second-most tackles at GWS behind ruckman Mumford.

He joined the Giants through the 2011 national draft, taken at pick No.2 behind forward Jonathon Patton, and endured the humiliating early years suffered by the club which managed just three wins in its first two seasons.

Now the Giants head into a maiden finals campaign with 16 wins under their belt, just four less than their first four years combined and Coniglio believes those early thrashings have hardened his team for a genuine tilt at September.

"It wasn't too long ago we were little kids dreaming about playing in these games, watching guys like Stevie and Heath and Mummy run around in finals games," the 22-year-old said. "For us personally it's been a long time coming and we're all very much excited.

"Time will tell how we go on the big stage but one thing's for sure, the guys are ready. It's going to be a great night not only for us and the Swans but for AFL in general in Sydney.

"No matter what age, young or too old or slow or quick, as long as you have that belief that'll hold you in good stead and anything can happen on any given day."

The winner of the Giants-Swans blockbuster on Saturday at ANZ Stadium books a place in a preliminary final, while the loser squares off against the victor of Adelaide versus North Melbourne.

It'll be Coniglio's 84th career game, putting him fifth in line on the early Giants production list of new players who joined the club before its inaugural 2012 AFL season.

Toby Greene heads that list with 96 games for the Giants. Jeremy Cameron and Devon Smith have played 91 games apiece for GWS while Dylan Shiel has racked up 85 in the orange and black.

Those youngsters have been surrounded by the likes of Johnson, Mumford and Shaw to build one of the strongest club's in the competition, and Coniglio said the experienced brigade had been crucial to his side's success this year.

"It's more the conversations you have during the week, not necessarily the big games when they arise but just little things along the way," Coniglio said.

"It's been fantastic having Shawy and Mummy and Joel Patfull and Ryan Griffen come in the last couple of years and spending some time with them.

"With Stevie [Johnson] it's another cream on top of the cake.

"He's come in and he's actually won multiple premierships, he's an outstanding player on big occasions."
