MIDBC president Graeme Bartley said it was a fantastic day with clear blue skies, plenty of competitors filling the pit area and spectators making the most of all the viewing vantage points around the track.
Mr Bartley said the action on track was fast and furious with all competitors giving it their absolute all.
“Competitors ranged in age from the young pee-wee riders in the Division 1 Demonstration class right the way through to the more mature age riders in the Veterans class who showed that age is no boundary to going fast,” he said.
“We had an absolute flyer on 4 wheels who is one of Queensland best and a lady in pink who proved it’s not just the guys who can carve up the track.”
Mr Bartley thanked sponsors Bike and Rider, Downright Carpentry, Downer Engineering, Qcrush, Glencore Mount Isa Mines, Bax Plumbing, JDR Mining, Haymans Electrical, Queensland ambulance service, CNW and Blue Scope Steel.
“Big thank you has to go to the officials for their hard work in the running of the day, the lap scorers who work tirelessly to ensure all race results are recorded accurately, the flag marshals who ensure rider safety is of the highest level, the track maintenance team who do a lot of work leading up to the day and also on the day, the volunteers who run the canteen,” he said.
