Coach Ricky Stuart declared he can finally start coaching again after spending two days dealing with off-field issues, culminating in Wighton being cleared to play against the Cronulla Sharks on Saturday night.

The NRL judiciary took minimal time to clear Wighton of a grade-two shoulder charge offence, throwing out the case and paving the way for the Raiders to resume their finals preparations.

Stuart has backed his team to push the off-field disruption aside when they return to training on Wednesday to ramp up their preparations.

Wighton and Stuart were forced to fly to Sydney to plead their case in an unexpected curveball for the first week of the play-offs.

It was the first real hiccup the Raiders have faced in the past 10 weeks, but Stuart said: "We'll be back to normal routine [on Wednesday], but this has been a huge distraction for two days.

"Hopefully [on Wednesday] I can start coaching. There was always hope [we could get here] and we planned to be here, in the second part of the competition.

"There's a wonderful vibe around the club and the community, which is wonderful."

Wighton, 23, was shattered when told he faced a potential four-match ban for a split-second decision in the Raiders' last-round win against the Wests Tigers.

The match review committee's bizarre decision to detail why it charged Wighton and not Cronulla hooker Michael Ennis for a similar tackle has divided the NRL.

Players are growing increasingly frustrated with the flawed judiciary system and Brisbane Broncos star Sam Thaiday led calls for changes in the off-season.

"[The shoulder charge is] something the game will probably have a deep, hard look at at the end of the year but I'm confused again as a player," Thaiday said.

Stuart and Raiders players have rallied around Wighton before his hearing and there will be an extra spring in their step when he's welcomed back at training.

"Jack's fine. He's very much a team man as all NRL players are. He doesn't want to let his players down and he hasn't," Stuart said.

Wighton made his debut in the 2012 season and was called into Canberra's team for the finals when Jarrod Croker fractured his jaw in seven places.

Raiders halfback Sam Williams played under-20s with Wighton the talented fullback will boster Canberra's line-up to play the Sharks.

"We're all good mates down here and we all look after each other," Williams said.

"Jacko is a quality player no matter where he is on the field and he's growing more and more with playing at fullback.

"He's starting to tick all the boxes in that position. Jacko is an excellent leader on the field, he's not always the biggest talker but everyone listens and respects his position with this team."
