The B Grade grand final saw an early lead for the Sandfire Bulls with three point lead over Parkside B by the end of the first half.
North West Queensland Soccer president, Jason Howard, said Bulls looked to run away with the game early.
“It was a pretty good game to watch. Bulls have been the best B Grade side all year but Parkside B stood up to them and defended well but their attack was lacking,” Howard said.
“Parkside had a game plan that they stuck to for the first 20 minutes and then a few things changed on the field and the game plan went out the door.
“For the whole nine team competition both teams finished fifth and sixth in the whole league, this was a great result for them.”
It was an evenly contested second half with both teams played consistently and neither team dominating the play. The final score was Sandfire Bulls 3, Parkside B 0.
The final game was the A Grade match between Atlas A and Parkside A and it was a nail biter both scoring only one goal.
The first half saw Parkside A dominate and score a goal early in the match. Atlas was rattled and played inconsistently compared to how they had played earlier in the season.
At halftime Atlas turned it around and were playing as a completely different team. A late penalty shot from Atlas saw the score evened out to one all.
The game went into 30 minutes extra time with neither team scoring. It then entered a penalty shoot out for the grand final win.
Parkside A scores four from six while Atlas sealed five out of six attempts to take the grand final win.
Atlas coach, Andrew Frahm, said this was their fifth grand final in a row, but their first successful win.
“Pretty stoked that we finally got a win after all those years of making it to the grand final,” Frahm said.
“Very happy with our performance throughout the season and the grand final.
“Atlas have had a successful season this year. Parkside were our biggest threat throughout the season and they definitely put up a fight on Saturday.”
