Coniglio has inked a contract extension keeping him at GWS until at least 2019, joining the likes of Callan Ward, Tom Scully, Shane Mumford and Lachie Whitfield who have all pledged their future to the club this season.

King has watched on in awe this year as Coniglio has become one of the competition's elite run-with midfielders, breaking the Giants' season record for most disposals and earning a place on the All Australian 40-man shortlist.

But it's team success that drove the West Australian native to further cement his commitment to Sydney's west.

"The future of the playing group, I think that would be the main thing for me," Coniglio said. "Deep down I know that we have the group to do it [win a premiership].

"It's a drive for everyone in our playing group, whether it's this year or next year or the year after.

"Growing up there is always a dream to play in grand finals and win them. We've got a number of players that we've recruited that have had that success and told a number of our boys what that actually feels like."

The 22-year-old's form has helped propel the AFL's newest club to within a game of the grand final with Saturday's six-goal win over the Sydney Swans proving the Giants are a genuine flag threat in just their fifth season.

Selected with pick two in 2011, Coniglio is one of eight top 15 selections from that year's national draft still at the Giants and King believes a maiden flag for the western Sydney outfit can kick-start the league's next dynasty.

"Their window is only just opening but once it's opened, she ain't closing for a while," King said.

"Most teams have a window of three to four years to win one.

"They could have in all honesty an eight-to-ten-year window, because of their ability to on-sell those guys that aren't being rewarded with opportunity, the guys that maybe fall out of favour.

"They don't really have an error rate any more because they've had a glut of elite picks.

"They effectively had 18 players in the top 21 in the draft and they're unbelievable numbers.

"You put some system with that, you put some belief with that and now you put some experience with that and things look pretty good.

"When you look at that round 23 team, they were the ninth-ranked team for age, so they're going nowhere. Only the Western Bulldogs were younger of the top eight teams this year."

The Western Bulldogs play premiers Hawthorn on Friday night with a place in next Saturday's preliminary final against GWS at Spotless Stadium on the line.

The Giants come into the game injury-free, although will be missing influential forward Steve Johnson who will serve a one-match suspension incurred for a high bump on Swan Josh Kennedy last weekend.

Coniglio heads into the game fresh from another stellar performance against Sydney where he collected 26 disposals, laid nine tackles and kicked a goal.

"He's on the fast track to not only being a real good individual performer but being a great team man, his work ethic for the cause is just as good as it is for his own individual reward," King said.

"He's one of those players who can take the game from inside traffic to outside in a heartbeat.

"They're all elite runners up there and he's no exception. The thing that stands out to me is he always appears to have time, he's never rushed.

King expected the strength of the Giants playing list to only improve in the coming seasons.

"There isn't a coach in the land that wouldn't want to get hold of this group," King said.

"They're going to have tradeable commodities every year, and high-end tradeable commodities. You're talking guys that have been in the top 10 in the draft wanting to come back to Melbourne or to Western Australia or to South Australia.

"All of a sudden their bargaining power's pretty high because their stocks haven't fallen at all."
