Opening in October 2016, Hummingbird House will provide a ‘home away from home’ for children affected by life-limiting conditions and their families; allowing kids to be kids, families to reconnect and precious memories to be made.
Coles at Mount Isa offer the opportunity to support the hospice by purchasing tokens and donating at the checkouts.
Donations will help fund a range of activities at Hummingbird House from travel costs for regional families accessing the hospice to musical therapy and aquatic physiotherapy sessions.
Coles has partnered with Hummingbird House since 2014 and thanks to the generosity of Queensland shoppers, Coles has already contributed more than $400,000 to help Hummingbird House Founders Paul and Gabrielle Quilliam’s dream become a reality.
“We are so grateful for the fantastic opportunity to work with Coles to raise awareness and support for Hummingbird House,” he said.
“Through the generosity of Coles team members and their customers, families now have access to self-contained accommodation suites that will enable them to stay together and receive support as a family.
“With Coles’ help, Hummingbird House has truly been built by Queenslanders for Queenslanders.”
Coles Queensland State General Manager Paul Bradshaw thanked customers for their generosity, saying he hoped to see this year’s campaign exceed last year’s fundraising effort.
“The delivery of Queensland’s only children’s hospice is a fantastic initiative that will make a huge impact and will benefit so many in the community,” Paul said.
“We would like to thank our Queensland customers for their compassion and generosity over the past two years and look forward to ramping up the support for Hummingbird House over the next four weeks at local supermarkets.”
