As a special envoy for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the actor has travelled to Iraq, Turkey and Syria, witnessing first-hand the appalling conditions in refugee camps and the desperate lives led by those displaced by war.
So, why did she drop the huge news that she had filed for divorce from fellow actor husband Brad Pitt at the same time as the UN refugee summit currently taking place in New York?*

*For those wondering why the end of Jolie and Pitt's romance is even news at all, you have a champion in Susan Sarandon. She asked CNN to reconsider its "priorities" after running the story on its homepage, tweeting the name of unarmed black man who was shot dead by Oklahoma police last week, Terence Crutcher.
