Christine Hann, 31, just celebrated her 10th wedding anniversary and her final birthday after being diagnosed with cancer in April. After a double mastectomy, 33 lymph nodes overtaken by cancer and a lumbar puncture, Christine was diagnosed again but with a rare form of untreatable brain cancer.
Sanctum Spa and Skin Clinic was fully booked on Wednesday with 45 clients raising a total of $7800 for Christine and her family.
Sanctum co-owner, Sam Corlis, said it was all hands on deck.
“We ended up fully booked out with the girls working from 9am to 7pm,” Ms Corlis said.
“We had a really good response from locals and received two large donations. The first was a $1000 cheque from the Mount Isa Cancer House and the other was a $1000 cheque from McCarthy’s Newsagency.
“I was blown away with the communities support. I was not expecting the large donations and I was grateful that the community got behind our initiative.
“Our goal was $5000 and to know we nearly cracked $8000 is amazing and hopefully everyone’s donations will assist Christine Hann and her family.”
Ms Corlis also pre-sold 190 cupcakes and sold a total of 300 within the first hour of opening. Donuts were also sold out and the sausage sizzle was also a hit.
“About 85 per cent of customers that booked in, booked in specifically to support the Hann family,” Ms Corlis said.
“I spoke to Christine on Thursday and she kept saying thank you to us and the community for their support and that the money would really help Shaun and the kids.”
Ms Corlis thanked all the businesses and supporters who have played a role in the initiative.
