A six-year-old boy has been airlifted to hospital after his face, mouth and throat were burnt in a campfire accident.

Rescuers said methylated spirits accidentally spilled into the fire triggered the flare up at a campsite north of Noosa on at 6.30pm Wednesday.
Paramedics rushed to Harry's Hut in the Great Sandy National Park, before taking the boy to Kin Kin, halfway between Noosa and Gympie, to meet the RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter.
Ambulance officers said the child suffered nine per cent partial thickness burns to the lower face and mouth, with his airway also mildly affected.
The helicopter crew flew him to the Lady Cilento Children's Hospital in a stable condition.
