Police have charged a man following an incident in which a police officer was allegedly assaulted in Mount Isa on Saturday September 24.

At around 10.30pm police responded to a fight involving a group of people at the Mount Isa Racecourse.
It will be alleged as police attempted to separate the group a man struck a male constable in the face before attempting to strangle him.
Other officers assisted and the man was taken into custody at the scene.
A 29-year-old male Constable was transported to Mount Isa Hospital for treatment of bruising to the face and concussion.
A 25-year-old Soldiers Hill man has been charged with serious assault police and obstruct police.
He is due to appear in in Mount Isa Magistrates Courts on September 26.
