Lee struggled to get control of the ball in the second half, when a couple of fumbles could have proved costly for the Raiders' hopes in the nail-biting, 14-12 loss to the minor premiers.

The biggest of which was when he couldn't hang on to fullback Jack Wighton's cut-out pass in the 72nd minute with the try line beckoning.

While there was no guarantee the Raiders could have scored again in the final eight minutes, it would have allowed the Green Machine to peg back the Storm.

Earlier in the half he had a couple of tough chances in a matter of minutes which he couldn't quite hang on to.

For the first Raiders halfback Aidan Sezer created an overlap for Lee, but the pass was too far in front and the diving flyer couldn't gather it.

Some commentators felt Lee hadn't read the play and should have been away in the 54th minute.

The 24-year-old almost produced what would have been a brilliant intercept just two minutes later when he read Storm fullback Cameron Munster's pass to centre Will Chambers, but again it wouldn't stick.

"We know that Edrick's a class player and we're always going to get behind him. In regards to performance we were just all disappointed in the result," Soliola said.

"Whatever happened with Edrick, you can't put that solely on one dude really. There was a lot of factors in the game that contributed [to the loss].

"We're around everyone. We know it's a team sport and everyone's buying into this whole thing. We know it's a learning experience for us and we can't take anything away from what Melbourne did."

Raiders legend Brett Mullins also backed Lee to bounce back.

Like Canberra coach Ricky Stuart, Mullins felt the Raiders were building something special.

The premiership fullback said he felt "like a Raider again" after he was invited back into the fold by his former teammate Stuart.

Mullins put Lee's bombed try down to thinking about the try before he got the ball.

"Of course he will [bounce back]. Every player has bad games. I think he saw where the line was and before he caught the ball he was scoring the try, that was all it was," Mullins said. "He'll bounce back mate, he's got to."

Soliola felt the building blocks were all in place for the Green Machine to power ahead next season.

He was confident the pain of the loss would ensure his Raiders teammates wouldn't expect things would happen for them next year.

They would look to "polish a lot of things" as they look to end the club's 22-year premiership drought.

"From what we've gone from last year to this year it's looking pretty good. Moving forward we don't have to change a lot of things now, we can come into training and improve on what we want to improve," Soliola said.

"We've locked in a majority of the team in the following couple of years so we can really polish a lot of things and really focus on areas we want to improve on.

"We're really looking forward to next year and next year's going to be pretty exciting for us."
