Break dance moves including the helicopter, a back flip, an imaginary ‘touchdown’, and an air banjo amused MC Annie Cremer.
But after they were performed Ms Cremer reminded them that it was the fashion, not the performances, that would persuade judges Kelly Barnes and Amber Huddy in determining the winner.
They broke it down into a top four selection before declaring Billy Willetts the best dressed man, and Brian Basilan as runner-up.
The junior winner was Cameron Seymour, 11, and first runner-up was Nathaniel Seymour, 4.
The more elegant and poised classic and opens ladies divisions were held in earlier breaks between the races.
Opens fashions on the field lady was Bonnie Anderson, who last year was claimed most fashionable at Birdsville. Runner-up was Cheryn Crossland.
Classic lady was Cecile Edmonds, with runner-up declared to be Michelle Pattison.
