Mayor Joyce McCulloch welcomed all 29, as well as their friends and families.
“How wonderful it is to have so many cultures together in one ceremony and it is wonderful for Mount Isa,” Cr McCulloch said.
“I personally congratulate each and every one of you.”
Cr McCulloch said federal member Bob Katter and state member Robbie Katter send their apologies.
“But I know how much both enjoy being at these ceremonies,” she said.
Cr McCulloch also congratulated Cr Peta MacRae who she said, had the hardest job. “She had to read out all the names,” she said.
The newest Australians hailed from Pakistan, England, South Africa, the UK, the Philippines, Ireland, Zimbabwe and Fiji but they all proudly sang Advance Australia Fair after taking the pledge which entitles them to vote, get a passport and be selected for jury duty.
