Mr Grant approached a number of graziers to donate cattle with proceeds going towards Cancer Council Queensland’s Relay For Life which came to Cloncurry for the first time on September 3-4.

Mr Grant was met with extraordinary support from local graziers, with funds raised reaching over $30,000, including a $10,000 from an anonymous donation. 

This act of support lead to Mr Grant and the Cloncurry Graziers being awarded the Spirit of Relay award for their efforts.

Mr Grant said Brodie and Co. would like to thank the following graziers who generously contributed to the Red Dirt Relay For Life event; The Hacon Family, The McMillan Family, The Daniels Family, Lorraine Pastoral Company, Stanbroke Pty Ltd and Paraway Pastoral Company.

Their results meant the North West Queensland region raised more than $40,000 through a range of fundraising activities.

Cancer Council Queensland spokesperson Katie Clift congratulated the community on a successful event.

“Everyone who participated helped make a real difference in the fight against cancer – thank you for your enthusiasm, spirit and generosity,” Ms Clift said.

“We want to thank Michael Grant, the team at Brodie and Co. and the Cloncurry Graziers for their kind support.

“Funds raised from Relay For Life will continue to help support locals affected by cancer and ensure they have the best prospects of detecting, treating and beating the disease.”

Relay For Life is an overnight experience that raises vital funds for the Cancer Council’s work in research, prevention and education, and patient support services.

The event offered the North West Queensland community a chance to celebrate with local cancer survivors, patients and their carers, honour loved ones lost to cancer and raise funds to help save more lives.
