The Irishman is yet to decide if he will recommit to the Blues and accept a three-year contract offer. North Melbourne have made a four-year offer but it is unknown if the Cats have tabled a formal offer for Tuohy.

The Cats have a tight salary cap and would probably need to move players out to bring a player in.

Dynamic forward Steven Motlop, who is contracted for about $600,000 next year, has been mooted as a possible trade.

The Cats are also interested in North Melbourne free agent Daniel Wells, but Collingwood appear likely to secure the Kangaroo who is expected to wait until after the Roos' best-and-fairest award on Friday night before announcing his decision.

Talks between the Blues and Greater Western Sydney for defender Caleb Marchbank are yet to significantly advance with the deal  likely to involve an exchange of first-round draft picks and players. Carlton's pick No. 5 appears certain to be involved in the deal with the issue being what level of compensation comes back to Carlton along with Marchbank in that exchange.

The Giants' first round pick is currently 15 but they also have Collingwood's first round pick (7) that was traded  as part of the Adam Treloar deal last year.

If the deal involved pick 5 for 15 and Marchbank,  Carlton would want another GWS player  to sweeten the deal. Who that is and the quality of the player is where negotiations will centre.

It appears likely that Bryce Gibbs will choose to remain at Carlton despite persistent suggestions of a trade to Adelaide. The Crows have insisted they are not pursuing Gibbs, who has said he is happy to remain at the Blues, who are  keen to retain the former No.1 pick.

Giants midfielder Will Hoskin-Elliott has told the club he wants to be traded to Collingwood.

Hoskin-Elliott, pick 4 in the 2011 draft, has played just two senior games this season and is contracted to the Giants next year for more than $400,000.

Collingwood will trade Travis Cloke to the Western Bulldogs for a draft pick, probably a third round, effectively moving his contract money out of the salary cap.

Collingwood will secure Fremantle's Chris Mayne as a free agent on a four-year contract worth about $500,000 year.

Bulldogs premiership player Koby Stevens is out of contract and Essendon have expressed interest in the tough midfielder.

It is unknown what impact winning the premiership will have on his plans.

Likewise, unlucky Bulldogs player Lin Jong is yet to officially decide whether he will accept a new offer to stay at the Bulldogs or accept the Gold Coast offer to move there on a three-year contract and the promise of more regular senior football. List manager Jason McCartney has indicated Giants forward James Stewart has been offered a one-year deal to remain at the Giants and is happy to remain unless a better deal comes up elsewhere. The son of former Collingwood and Richmond forward Craig, he managed only one game this season.

Jack Steele has yet to decide if he will remain at the Giants or pursue St Kilda's offer. Steele was pick 24 in the 2014 draft and is out of contract but he Giants are prepared to offer him a new deal if he wants to stay.

Collingwood Defender Nathan Brown is weighing up an offer to remain a Magpie on a two-year deal while his twin Mitch is considering whether to remain with West Coast.

Speaking on AFL trade radio, player agent Liam Pickering said there had been no indication that Richmond was considering trading Jack Riewoldt despite speculation there could be a shock move away from Punt Road.

Pickering said he had not discussed Riewoldt's future with Tigers' football department chiefs Dan Richardson and Neil Balme – although rival clubs had inquired about him.

"Clubs have rung me about him and they are hearing the same thing ... I can tell you what I am hearing from the club [Richmond], which is nothing," Pickering said.

Pickering hopes former Port Adelaide forward Jay Schulz could find a new home as a delisted free agent.

"He had his back sorted out last [season]. I hope he still has something to offer. The one thing he can do is kick straight," he said.
