Graeme Bartley, president of the Mount Isa Dirt Bike Club, said they held Round 2 of the Club championship on the weekend in what can only be described as optimal conditions for some the best racing so far this season.
“The day began with a light falling of rain which looked to set try and spoil the party but only helped the track to be in its best shape in quite some time,” Mr Bartley said.
“Track conditions were fantastic with every rider revelling in the conditions that us in the west rarely get to enjoy.”
Mr Bartley said Terry from Bike & Rider had the venue looking first class with his trade stall in the pit area and also the addition of corporate flags about the track helped to heighten the atmosphere.
“Once the riders hit the track for practice, every returning rider was wearing a grin from ear to ear and chomping at the bit for the first round of racing,” he said.
“The gates were packed with riders eager to show just who was the quickest in the northwest and build on their championship standings.
“All three rounds of racing were close and fast with the battles at the front and further back in the pack providing much excitement for the spectators who were in attendance.”
