Brisbane rockers Violent Soho have been nominated for an impressive five awards including best group, best independent release, best rock album and best Australian live act.

With the other two acts nominated, you could be forgiven for thinking the '90s were having a renaissance, as Powderfinger frontman Bernard Fanning and the Veronicas also earnt a few nods.

Fanning will have his fingers crossed for best male artist and best adult contemporary album, while the Veronicas are in line for best group, best pop album and the highly coveted song of the year award for their track In My Blood.

Indigenous singer Kev Carmody's Recollections... Reflections... won a nomination nod for best blues and roots album.

Winners of the artisan and fine arts were announced at the nominations event on Wednesday, with locals Katie Noonan (best classical album) and Kate Miller-Heidke (best comedy release, best soundtrack) both learning they had missed out.

Fanning also missed out on best cover art and engineer of the year.

Overall Flume led the nominations with an impressive 11 nods to his name including in the highly prized categories of album of the year and song of the year.

The winners will be revealed at a ceremony in Sydney on November 23.
