This includes two in reserve for the 1000 metre Class B Handicap.
The six races includes the Cloncurry Cup, the 1400 metre open handicap scheduled to be the last race of the day.
There are nine acceptances for the Cup including Golden Meteor.
The Steven Royes’ trained racehorse won four of its last five races, and most recently claimed the Mount Isa Spring Cup on September 24.
It had been six lengths in front of second placer, Mossale, trained by Bob Burow, who seeks a rematch in the Curry Cup.
However, jockey Dan Ballard has been replaced with Scott McCullum.
Another horse to look out for in the Curry Cup is Holey Gadoley, trained by Winton’s Ray Hermann.
Last Saturday Holey Gadoley won the Jundah Cup in 1 min 24.01 seconds, a notable time considering Golden Meteor’s win at the Mount Isa Spring Cup had been done in 1 min 32.03 seconds at the same distance.
The first race of the day will be the 1000 metre maiden plate which is set to start at 1.10pm.
10 acceptances for the maiden plate include Star of Isaac, Veganer and On A Zephyr.
Judging merely on recent race results, Veganer stands out among the nominations.
The Tanya Parry trained racehorse came second in the 1100 metre race during the recent Mount Isa Spring Races.
It also came second in Cloncurry on September 10, in the 1000 metres, having lost to Damgoodchoice.
Damgoodchoice will be in the 1000 metre Class B Handicap instead, competing against nine other horses – not counting the two emergencies.
The field includes Bea Bingle, Smart Craft and Alamein Avenue.
Following this race is the Joe and Pauline Bakhash Memorial 1200 metre Class 6 Plate.
The nine acceptances include Smooth Element, Regal Conserve, Beaudragon, and Splash Out.
Smooth Element has won three of its last five races, the last two occasions in Richmond and with one of them as recently as last Saturday.
It’s trained by Richmond’s Jim Jackson, who also brings Mojave Royale for the fifth race; the 1400 metre Benchmark 60 Handicap.
There’s 10 acceptances in the fourth race; the 1200 metre John Bulley and Judy Keyes Memorial.
These include Wilker, Dreamward Bound, and Good Mood.
Jay Morris’s Wilker has won two races of the last five, the more notable being the first of 15 in Townsville on July 23.
Dreamward Bound has won two of its last five races – although its most recent victory was in McKinlay in June.
It had come second in Mount Isa in August, losing out to Dukes Delight in the 1200 metres.
The fifth race has nine nominations, including Mojave Royale, Diurnal Tiger, Flamingo Rose, and Chasing the Dragon.
Denise Ballard’s Chasing the Dragon won the Lord Derby Stakes during the Mount Isa Spring Races, having beaten Dukes Delight and Flamingo Rose.
Tanya Parry’s Flamingo Rose had won its races in Mount Isa and Camooweal in September, although last Saturday had placed seventh of nine in Richmond.
