Queensland business confidence has hit an almost six-year high, according to the latest Sensis Business Index.

The index, released on Thursday, shows Queensland was third in terms of business confidence in Australia, up three points to +39 - the highest level since the November 2010 data.
The net balance score is calculated by comparing the difference between the number of small and medium businesses who are confident (57 per cent) versus worried (18 per cent).
The Queensland government also improved its rating this quarter, gaining eight points to a net balance of -18. But this remained the third-lowest ranking in the nation, with the Queensland government only ahead of Victoria on -24 and South Australia on -28.
Business people were asked: "Thinking about the current state/ territory government, do you believe that their policies are supportive of small business, work against small business or have no real impact either way?"
Sensis chief executive officer John Allan said the positive result from Queensland businesses bucked the national downward trend.
"Businesses in Queensland (are) feeling confident about their individual business strengths and the state also recording the best profitability results," Mr Allan said.
"While still in negative territory, the government's approval rating has improved this quarter, with businesses impressed with the incentives and grants on offer, as well as the government's efforts to create more jobs.
"However excessive bureaucracy continues to be the major concern for the government to address."
The index reflects the views of 1000 small and medium businesses from across Australia.
Support for the federal government following the election was down one point to -2, with Queensland small and medium businesses second-last in terms of support.
Business confidence in Brisbane was down nine points to +54, with Brisbane sharing the title of the most confident capital city.
Businesses were also asked if they thought Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull would survive a full term. While 48 per cent thought he would, one-third did not.
Meanwhile, a new poll shows Labor at 53 per cent two-party preferred in Queensland compared to 47 per cent for the LNP in the July to September quarter, according to Essential Research.
At the first preference vote July to September, the LNP received 38 per cent, Labor 37 per cent, Greens 8 per cent, Katter's Australian Party 2 per cent, and other/ independent 15 per cent.
But the data also shows the looming significance of One Nation in Queensland politics, with One Nation getting 10 per cent of the first preference vote in the month of September.
On Wednesday, Treasurer Curtis Pitt said the latest Westpac-Melbourne Institute Consumer Sentiment Index showed that for the fourth month in a row there was an increase in consumer confidence.
"The latest results show we are leading the nation with consumer confidence well above the national level," Mr Pitt said.
"We are seeing the highest level of consumer sentiment in Queensland since November 2013."
