The timing of the awards was appropriate just ahead of SES Week and SES Area Controller Gordon Graham gave out two awards which he said were well deserved
“Our members are volunteers and the amount of hours they put in is extreme and getting bigger,” Mr Graham said.
The first award was “regional response of the year” which went to Kim Smith on behalf of Mount Isa SES Unit for their response to last year’s tragic caravan explosion on Deighton St in extremely arduous conditions.
The second award went to Larry Hartig for “commitment and dedication to provide exemplary leadership and management to the Cloncurry SES”.
