The Cloncurry local rode Elation to win with a score of 173 points.
He was a mere two points ahead of the second placers.
Brett Hick, riding Legs, and Tom Webster, riding Twist, tied with a score of 171.
Hick had also gained sixth place with One Moore, on 164 points.
In close behind on fourth place was Ben Stanger, riding Megga Cat to get 170 points.
The score gap began to widen with fifth placer Damian Jamieson, riding Marilyn with 166 points.
Hick was sixth place, and Alan Davison was seventh and eighth.
On Bokara he was judged to have ridden with a score of 142 points.
30 points behind that he came eighth place with Acorn.
But the highest cut out of the day was won by Bill Harding and Static. They earned 23 points.
