Nominations open on Monday for Queensland’s richest freshwater fishing competition, the 2016 Clancy Corporation Lake Moondarra Fishing Classic.

Renowned as one of the most popular social and recreational events in Mount Isa and Queensland’s Outback, the annual fishing based event sees hundreds of nominees and thousands of visitors annually in attendance in Mount Isa from all across the country.
Fishers can enter numerous categories include junior, senior and mystery weight categories for target species including Sleepy Cod, Sooty Grunter, Longtom, Archer Fish, Catfish and Barramundi.
There are also perpetual trophies for the winners of overall Heaviest Sooty Grunter and Barramundi and Champion Senior and Junior Anglers.
Competitors will also share in thousands of dollars in cash.
And there will be trophies and prizes up for grabs over the three days.
Also returning to the long list of fishing categories at the 2016 Lake Moondarra Fishing Classic will be the popular team category and the $50,000 Mount Isa Water Board Tagged Barra.
Entries will cost just $30 for seniors and $10 for Juniors.
Juniors are defined as people under 15 years of age who have not had their 15th birthday prior to the first day of competition.
Nominations will be available from local businesses Tool N Tackle or Outback at Isa until mid-morning Friday October 28.
After that they will then move out to the nomination tent at Black Rock Park, Lake Moondarra.
Entry to the Fishing Classic for spectators is free.
However for punters who give an optional gold coin donation at the gate, they will receive a ticket to go into the draw for the Lucky Gate prizes.
It’s all on barely two weeks away.
The 2016 Clancy Corporation Lake Moondarra Fishing Classic kicks off at noon Friday October 28.
Fishing will go all the way through to 10am on Sunday, October 30.
Presentations for the weekend will be hosted out the Lake on the Sunday from 11am.
