A video and images are circling Facebook once again of a large fresh water crocodile at Lake Moondarra.

Locals found it hard to determine from the video whether the animal was a salt or fresh water crocodile.
Mount Isa Water Board Chief Executive Officer, Stephen Farrelly, confirmed it was a fresh water crocodile.
“There are dozens of crocs in and around the lake and we see them regularly at our Clear Water Lagoon facility,” he said.

“If left alone there is no significant risk. If approached, there is the risk of being bitten like entering a yard with a dog.”
Crocodile expert from Crocodylus Park in Darwin, Professor Grahame Webb, said the video allowed him to see behind the head were rows of large scales, these were absent from salties.
“The freshies are much more nobbly on the neck, and the image on the video allows you to rule out salties.
“That being so, it looks quite large (over two metres), so it looks to me like a male. In some areas they get to three metres, but my guess it would be 2.2 to 2.4 metres long.”
This is not the first time the crocodile has been spotted and locals have been urged not to approach any crocodiles at Lake Moondarra.
