On Thursday, Mount Isa is forecast to reach a top of 39 degrees that is expected to continue throughout the weekend. Early next week should see high temperatures continue.
Cloncurry and Camooweal is forecast to reach 40 degrees from Friday and across the weekend. Further north Doomadgee should reach a top of 42 degrees, while down south Boulia will only reach a top of 37.
Last weekend saw patchy rain fall across North West Queensland, with Mount Isa receiving a total of 17.6 millimetres over the two days.
When the rain arrived over the weekend temperatures dropped to 20.8 degrees in Mount Isa, but quickly climbed back to 27.2 degrees on Sunday.
Other rain recordings for Saturday October 22 and Sunday October 23 include: Cloncurry receiving a total of 5.6mm, Lake Julius 4.8, Kamilaroi Station 24.2, Camooweal 4.6, Julia Creek 6.4, Winton 3.0, Carters Bore 4.8 and Boulia recorded 3.4.
