Everitt, Jason Tutt, Mark Whiley and Dillon Viojo-Rainbow have been cut along with rookies Billy Gowers and Andrew Gallucci.

Gowers and Galluci will continue training with the club in the hope of being re-rookied later in the year.

Thirteen players have now departed Princes Park in the off-season after the retirements of Michael Jamison, Andrew Walker and Cameron Wood as well as the delistings of Matthew Dick, Jayden Foster and Clem Smith.

Defender Zach Tuohy was traded to Geelong.

The Blues welcomed former GWS trio Rhys Palmer, Caleb Marchbank and Jarrod Pickett during the trade period along with ex-Cat Billie Smedts as part of the Tuohy deal.

While the recruitment of Palmer raised several eyebrows, Carlton believe he will play most weeks if he remains injury-free.

Palmer will play at half-forward but will pinch-hit in the middle to add much-needed depth to the Blues' midfield.

Carlton parted ways with pick No.135 at this year's draft to acquire Palmer. Pick No.135 has never been used in the 30-year history of the draft.

Much-maligned recruits Liam Jones and Kristian Jaksch will remain on the senior as both have one year left on their contracts.

Carlton came close at the end of 2015 to delisting Jones with two years left on his contract.

Upon hearing the news of his sacking, Everitt sent out a satirical photo-shopped image on social media of himself holding a box of personal effects, accompanied by the caption, "Me".

The 27-year-old played 52 of his 131 career games with the Blues after stints with the Western Bulldogs and Sydney.

Originally taken at No.11 in the 2006 draft, Everitt could now be on the lookout for a fourth club.

Tutt, also a former Bulldog, could only manage 14 games in two seasons after crossing to Carlton at the end of 2014 – including just one this year – for a career total of 40.

Whiley also made his way to the Blues at the end of 2014, as part of a trade from Greater Western Sydney, but he too failed to make a meaningful impact with just nine games for Carlton in two seasons for a career total of 21 in five years.

Viojo-Rainbow, Gowers and Gallucci failed to debut.

Meanwhile, St Kilda have begun their second round of delistings.

It's understood utility Cameron Shenton was informed on Tuesday that he would not be offered a contract for 2017.

Shenton, 26, played 24 games for the Saints in five seasons but didn't appear at senior level in 2016, winning the Saints' VFL affiliate Sandringham's best and fairest.

Brodie Murdoch, Eli Templeton, veteran Sam Fisher and rookie ruckman Jason Holmes are others whose contracts expired at the end of 2016, with all due to learn of their fates ahead of the October 31 list lodgement deadline.

Fisher's chances of staying on the list took a blow when the Saints signed Collingwood defender Nathan Brown as a free agent earlier this month.

The Saints had already delisted Tom Curren, Brenton Payne, Luke Delaney and Josh Saunders.

They also brought in Greater Western Sydney midfielder Jack Steele and Western Bulldogs on-baller Koby Stevens during the trade period.
