Katrina Kuhne, co-owner of the Mount Isa Centre and who is a teacher with more than 25 years experience, said that the Kip McGrath Education Centre’s package of supplementary education programs includes a diverse offering for students of all ages and ability levels.
“Ensuring that children have good educational support can influence their view of themselves, their interest and motivation to be at school and can impact positively on their future educational success,” Ms Kuhne said.
“Our aim is to help students reach their full learning potential by complementing the work being done in schools.
“Tutoring in small groups is different to one-on-one tutoring.
“Being part of a small group encourages the child to develop their ability to work independently in a safe and supported environment and so enhances their ability to work in a classroom.”
Support and extension in English, maths, reading, comprehension and spelling are the fundamental focuses at the Mount Isa centre, as well as programs that cater for those students who need to work on their writing and those still learning how best to study.
“Our qualified and experienced teachers and assistants use proven methods and techniques to bring out the best in our students and love the thrill of seeing our students succeed,” she said.
“Boosting student’s confidence and self-esteem is what we strive to do.”
