Christine, 31, was diagnosed with cancer in April. After a double mastectomy, 33 lymph nodes overtaken by cancer and a lumbar puncture, Christine was diagnosed again but with a rare form of untreatable brain cancer.

Friend of Christine, Michelle McClymont, was shocked when she heard the sad news of Christine’s diagnosis and wanted to help raise funds for her family.

She organised a horse trail ride called Ride For The Hanns, which is scheduled to run on Saturday November 5.

“When I heard of Christine’s diagnosis I just thought, what could I do to help?” McClymont said.

“I have a love for horses and riding, so I thought why not go for trail ride? The interest in the event has been great and we have about 20 riders who have already signed up.

​“I go riding on a regular basis and it is always nice to go for a ride with other people so I thought why not combine it with helping someone out.”

Estimated to take about four to five hours, the ride will start at the Mount Isa soccer grounds carpark on Sports Parade.

Starting at 9am, the riders will journey behind the cemetery, down Ryan Road to the park near Lake Moondarra Caravan Park. A lunch will then be provided before riders follow the same trail back.

“This event is open to all age groups, we are only walking so there is no restrictions on your horse riding level or capability,” McClymont said.

“Ideally we would like to raise about $1000 for Christine’s family.”

Entry is only $20 a rider and that includes lunch and drinks. There will also be a raffle for a bridal for riders to purchase a ticket and Ride For The Hanns event shirts to order prior to the event.
