Northern Gas Pipeline project manager Jemena has said the first pipes to be laid between Tennant Creek and Mount Isa have arrived in Darwin.

The pipeline will link NT with the eastern seaboard.
Project director Jonathan Spink told NT Business Review last week that 160km of pipe had arrived and would be transported to Tennant Creek, where it will be stockpiled. Another three shipments will complete the 622km pipeline. Construction is due to begin in 2017 and Jemena say the new NT government’s fracking ban would not affect the project.
