At the age of 25, Roobiny suffered a seizure at her house in Mount Isa and later died in Townsville Hospital on October 27. Her family, fiance, friends, colleagues and Robbie Katter gathered at the clinic on Thursday to reflect on her short-lived life and passion for veterinary science.
North West Veterinary Clinic owner, Ed Butterworth, described Roobiny as a loving and caring person who adored animals and her job.
“Roobiny went to school in Mount Isa before travelling across to Townsville to study Veterinary Science at James Cook University,” Mr Butterworth said.
“She then returned to Mount Isa in 2011 as part of her clinic placement for her undergraduate degree requirements. Upon graduation Roobiny she started here full time.
“During her time here she had practiced in Mount Isa but also across the North West. She established a strong connection with clients all over the district and everyone she met, she touched.”

Mr Butterworth said the plaque was positioned in the waiting room, so she could continue to watch the ins and outs of the clinic.
“We reflect on the sadness of the loss but also the joy, passion and dedication she shared with us,” he said.
“As sad as the day is there is so much wonder and joy in knowing what Roobiny was all about including the inspiration that she has left behind.
