Players like Millman, Australia's third-ranked male and the current world No.71, could be forgiven for being over the Kyrgios circus, which reached its peak when he was hit with a three-week tour ban for failing to put his best foot forward during a match in Shanghai.

That has now ended and Kyrgios will be free to pick up a racquet and return to the ATP Tour, starting in the Hopman Cup team event in January ahead of the Australian Open.

Millman, meanwhile, will be part of a strong field in the Brisbane International, headlined by Rafael Nadal and including five of the men's top 10 alongside the typically strong women's draw that features three of the four reigning grand slam champions.

The 27-year-old, who was part of the Australian team at the Rio Olympics, said Kyrgios had the opportunity to take great strides in Perth, then Melbourne, as he tries to balance his obvious talent with the pressures of elite sport.

"Nick will be the first to admit in Shanghai he had a bit of a brain snap there," Millman said. "I guess we all support him and get behind him and hope that you learn from your mistakes.

"I know I have made a fair share of mine – they just weren't as publicised."

Millman said he was playing qualifier tournaments in Romania when he was 21, while Kyrgios already has three tour titles to his name and has long been earmarked to be the next Australian to win a grand slam tournament.

"He's in the spotlight a lot and it's tricky for him, and he will be the first to admit that," Millman said. "But what you want to see is improvement. I am sure we will see that.

"He will take responsibility and be ready to go."

Millman hasn't always been quick to give out sympathy in the past to players like fellow Queenslander Bernard Tomic, who has had his moments of petulance despite getting more coaching and development dollars than Millman ever saw.

But it shows that even if large sections of the public have had enough of Kyrgios and his antics, he remains tight with his fellow Australian pros, with Millman saying he was happy to speak for all of them when it came to enthusiasm levels for the Australian summer season.

Senior Tennis Australia official Todd Woodbridge has confirmed the Kyrgios suspension was now completed and all eyes will now fall on the Canberra native as he carries Australia's hopes on the hardcourts of Melbourne.

Millman, meanwhile, has overcome a hip injury and hopes to push his way into the top 50 with a strong showing in 2017. He has become a crowd favourite at home for his fighting style but admits he must turn more close contests into victories.

Tomic will also start his summer in Brisbane, as will Sam Stosur, who has struggled at the tournament in the past but will return for another crack in her Open warm-up.
