The second instalment of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Queensland (CCIQ) ReachTEL Small Business Survey delivered a damning report card for the government in several areas.

And almost two in three businesses surveyed said they wanted to go back to the polls within the next six months.

More than two-thirds of businesses (67.5 per cent) rated the Queensland government's performance in managing the budget as poor or very poor in the survey, which polled 1600 businesses. Only 8.9 per cent rated it as good or very good.

The survey showed 78.3 per cent of businesses believed the government's handling of reducing costs and taxes was poor or very poor. Just 5 per cent rated the handling as good or very good.

It also found 59.9 per cent believed the handling of delivering infrastructure was poor or very poor.

And 59.7 per cent rated the government's performance when it came to investing in innovation and entrepreneurs as poor or very poor.

Opposition Treasury spokesman Scott Emerson said the report showed Queensland's business community was left to fend for itself.

"This kind of damning feedback confirms Labor's Advance Queensland policy has been a spectacular failure and is not supporting established businesses across the state," Mr Emerson said.

But Treasurer Curtis Pitt said the government was investing in small business, with $12.9 million on small business services in his first budget and $18.8 million allocated in the current financial year.

"We've brought back Queensland government support for small business and the economy is growing four times as fast under our government," Mr Pitt said.

"But if we need to ramp up awareness of our programs to ensure they are front and centre for all small business owners to consider, then that's what we'll do."

Mr Pitt pointed to several programs for small business including the regionally-focussed Back to Work program, the Back to Work Youth Boost and doubling the payroll tax rebate from 25 to 50 per cent for taking on new apprentices or trainees.

He also accused the LNP of cutting small business programs under the former government.

CCIQ director of advocacy Nick Behrens said domestic economic growth was only now starting to recover and only as a result of the state government's consumption and capital expenditure.

But Mr Behrens said Advance Queensland and the Back to Work initiative were yet to meaningfully stimulate employment.

And he said businesses were concerned about the increase in public service numbers and the impact this would have on the budget's bottom line.

"There is a general lack of confidence that the state government will be able to get our Triple A credit rating back," Mr Behrens said.

Mr Behrens called on Labor, the LNP, Greens, Katter's Australian Party, One Nation and independent MPs to create small business-friendly policies.
