Authorities have cancelled a Watch and Act message for the fire on Macleay Island, with properties no longer under threat.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said the fire was contained on Saturday afternoon.
Firefighters were doing back burning operations in the area on Saturday to strengthen containment lines and water bombing.
Residents will be affected by smoke haze on Saturday night and are advised to close windows and doors and keep medications close by if they have a respiratory condition.
Motorists are advised to drive with caution and to conditions.
Firefighters had a blaze in the same location under control on Friday, and it had reignited on Saturday.
EARLIER: Authorities are warning Macleay Island residents to finalise their bushfire plans and leave now if they do not have a plan.
At 1.50pm on Saturday, a large bushfire was located in the area of Tim Sheas Wetland Reserve, Macleay Island.
The large, fast-moving fire is travelling in a north easterly direction and is expected to impact the areas of Charles Tce, Lemontree Drive, Derwent St, Dove St, Sandpiper Parade, High Central Rd and the northern ends of Lake St, Squire St and Michiko St, Tim Sheas Wetland Reserve, Macleay Island within the next two hours.
Residents are advised that if their plan is to relocate, or if they do not have a plan, then they are advised to move now.
Three fire crews are working with aerial support to contain the blaze, but firefighters advised they would not be able to protect every affected property and residents should not expect a firefighter at their door.
Residents are advised to call triple-0 if their property comes under threat.
Leaving well ahead of the fire is the safest option for survival, the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advised.
"Well prepared and defended homes can offer safety during the fire and may be defendable," a QFES spokesman said.
Residents could consider taking precautionary measures, such as putting on protective clothing, drinking lots of water, moving cars to a safe location, closing windows and doors and shutting blinds, wetting down fine fuels close to buildings, removing garden furniture, sealing gaps under doors and filling containers with waters.
