It was winter time in Canada: long, dark, wet days and so, so cold. Sandy McGrath wanted to get her three small kids out of the house and doing something, so she drove them to an indoor ice rink to take part in a skating lesson. "She'll be fine..." she said, sending Haleigh out after being told it was not a beginner's class. "He'll be fine too..." she said less confidently of the younger Andrew, who had never even worn skates before.
