Peter and Paul Snowden are leaning towards missing the Magic Millions with Breeders Plate winner Khan so they can focus on winning a Golden Slipper.

Capitalist completed the Magic Millions-Golden Slipper double this year, but Peter Snowden realises how much that preparation taxes a colt.

"Khan is in the stable at the moment and the race is two months away," he said. "We have not made a final decision on the Gold Coast as yet, but I'm looking at the Golden Slipper.

"We found out how hard that preparation was on a horse last year and you need to be mindful of that when you are planning for the Slipper. But it hasn't been totally ruled out yet."

Khan is a $7 second favourite behind Madeenaty for the Magic Millions with Ladbrokes as the push towards the Gold Coast starts to gather momentum.

Only three horses have completed the Magic Millions-Golden Slipper double. Capitalist is the only colt to have achieved it, while Phelan Ready and Dance Hero did it as geldings.

Magic Millions purchase Pierro won the Breeders Plate before waiting until the autumn to take his Golden Slipper and the two-year-old triple crown.

The Snowdens have a few more chances of getting to the Magic Millions and Allied Power will get his chance to push his claims in the Golden Gift at Rosehill on Saturday. He will be joined by Arbitrate in the $150,000 feature, which was used by Yankee Rose as her springboard towards the Golden Slipper last year.

"It is good prizemoney and gives you a chance to get some money in the bank with nice horses," Snowden said. "We are taking a couple of nice horses to the race. They aren't the top-notch ones, but they will be competitive."

Arbitrate ran fifth to Veranillo on debut at Rosehill two weeks ago and Snowden expects him to improve.

"He was going to challenge the winner at 100 metres, but just run out of puff," he said. "He has been doing the right thing on the track since.

"Allied Power has trialled well but race day is where it counts and we are hoping he can show up in the finish."

Meanwhile, Darley Classic winner Malaguerra has been made a $3.30 favourite for Saturday's Winterbottom Stakes after drawing barrier one.

Joe Pride's grand sprinter Terravista is $3.50 second pick, while Takedown and locals Rock Magic and State Solicitor share the third line of betting at Ladbrokes at $8.50.

Gary Moore has not given up hope of getting Takedown into the Hong Kong International Sprint should the four-year-old win the group 1 on Saturday.

"If we are invited we would definitely consider making the trip over there," Moore said. "It has been on our radar for a long time. He would need to win on Saturday and come through the run well."
