St George’s Rod Avery shot the video after a long day lamb marking on Burgorah, 15km north east of St George.
A former Balonne Shire councilor, Mr Avery said they had just finished work for the day when one of the workers spotted the unusual activity.
“He gave us a call on the two-way so we headed down there and sat around watching the snake being eaten,” Mr Avery said.
“I shot the video thinking it was something not a lot of people got to see and it’s pretty much gone viral.
“I have had some close calls with snakes but I have never seen anything like that.”
Mr Avery said those watching initially thought both were brown snakes.
“But someone has put on Facebook that it is a Mulga snake so I’m happy to go with that,” he said.
“By the time I got there, there was only about a foot left of the first snake but it was still interesting to watch.
“At the end of it we just left him to it. Snakes down the paddock don’t worry me too much but any around the house are fair game.”
Mr Avery said he had recently shared other videos on Facebook of interesting things he found in the bush.
“Lots of people don’t get to see that sort of stuff.”
